CHA Outpatient Services/Infusion/Oncology Clinic Expansion

In September 2022, Community Hospital of Anaconda began construction of a new infusion center, United States Pharmacopeia (USP) 797/800 compliant pharmacy and mixing area, oncology clinic and reception/waiting room for surgery and outpatient services.  In addition, the project includes the construction of two new pre/post holding rooms for surgery, a surgical storage area and additional triage room for labor and delivery.  The new area will be constructed adjacent to the west inpatient wing of the hospital and will have access to the main hospital facility.  100 additional parking spaces will be included as well as a covered canopy for drop-off/pick up of patients.

Hematologist/Oncologist Dr. Jim Hueftle joined CHA in late 2015 and the north hall of Pintler Family Medicine 1 was renovated into an oncology clinic with three exam rooms, a procedure room and an open infusion area with seven patient chairs.  CHA believed that this small area, while functional, could be improved upon for the comfort of our patients.  The new oncology clinic will include four private infusion areas and a large open area with six chairs surrounded by windows looking out into the Pintler Mountain range.  The clinic will include four exam rooms and a procedure room.   The pharmacy storage and mixing area will provide a safe space to store and prepare chemotherapy treatments while ensuring compliance with United States Pharmacopeia (USP) 797/800.

In 2015, CHA completed an expansion of the surgical department with the construction of four ORs, an endoscopy suite, a minor procedure room, a four bed Post Anesthesia Care Unit and ten pre/post operative rooms.  In addition, two new labor and delivery suites were constructed.  In 2022, CHA renovated OR4 to launch our surgical robotics program.  Today’s project includes a spacious reception/waiting area for surgical and outpatient services patients and their families as well as a large storage area for our state-of-the-art surgical equipment.

Jackson Contracting is the general contractor of this 14,700 square foot addition.  The total cost of the project, including design, construction, equipment, and furnishings is around $15M.  Financing for a large portion of the project has been provided by the Montana Facility Finance Authority Master Loan Program and Zion Bank.

The new area was opened on March 25, 2024.  This expansion will allow CHA to continue to provide a comfortable, healing environment for generations to come.
